One Month Left - Let’s Make Some Memories!

Can you believe we’re in the final stretch of summer? As a family travel planner, I know how quickly the season flies by. But there's still time to make some core memories—whether you're sticking close to home or sneaking in a last-minute getaway. Here are a few fun ideas to make August count:

🍿 Easy & Local Memory-Makers

1. Plan a “Yes Day” - Let the kids call the shots—breakfast for dinner, backyard water games, or a pajama day with movies.

2. Be a Tourist in Your Own Town - Visit a local museum, zoo, or park you’ve never explored.

3. Backyard Movie Night - Set up a projector, grab popcorn and blankets, and enjoy a movie under the stars.

4. Quick Day Trips - Pick a spot 1–2 hours away—a lake, amusement park, or cute small town—and go explore.

✈️ Quick Getaways Before the Bus Comes

1. Beach Weekend - Soak up some sun with a few days at the coast or even a quick Caribbean escape.

2. Kid-Friendly Resorts - Think Great Wolf Lodge, all-inclusives, or mountain retreats that keep everyone entertained. (You know just who to ask about this too right? Hint Hint: She’s the one who wrote this blog!!)

3. Theme Park Fun - Disney, Universal, LEGOLAND, Hershey Park —August is a great time for a quick trip before fall crowds hit.

My Tips for a Memorable August

  • Let the kids help plan—it builds excitement.

  • Don’t overpack the schedule—leave space for spontaneity.

  • Be present—take photos, but don’t live in your phone.
